Very cool, I've owned two '77 2204's, a '77 2203', and a '79 and '81 JMP Master Lead Combo. Love master volume JMP's (some of the best looking and sounding Marshall amps). Congrats and enjoy.

Could still be a 1980 headbox. Marshall transitioned to the slightly larger logo during 1980. I own a 1980 serial'ed 2203 JMP amp, that has the large logo, and I owned a 1980 serial'ed JMP 2204 that had the same smaller logo that is on both my 1978 and 1979 JMP 2203s. Being 100 watts, this thing is LOUD. I would even venture to say that its the loudest amp Marshall has ever made.

It sounds woody and thick and has more than enough gain for me. To me it works best just to crank the preamp knob, set your master and eq and use the volume on your guitar to clean it up.
